I'm happy to announce the 2007 Summer edition of the All-Island Harp In!

  • Date: Sunday July, 8, 2007
  • Time:  10 am - 3:30 pm
  • Location: BC Forest Discovery Centre

A New location for this year's event - and a beautiful one, too. The Forest Discovery Centre (formally the Forest Museum) is just north of Duncan (the first light north - 2 km perhaps). It is a large site, including a railroad, with a steam train that we can ride, a number of exhibits from logging camps, lots and lots of trees, and it sits on the edge of Somenos marsh and Lake, one of the Island's premier birdwatching spots.  Here's a link to their site.

We'll be in the lower field, and we can drive down to it to unload, and then have our cars back out by 10 when they open to the public. We'll be in a covered area there. (actually they reserved 2 places for us, for weather contingencies - one is a nice covered outdoor area, the other inside) We'll plan a longish lunch so we can ride the train, see the site, etc., then get back to harping in the afternoon.

Everyone is welcome. Harpers $20. Non-harpers $6 Both include admission to the museum site and steam train rides,  so there will be plenty to do for people who are coming along with you.

I'll mail music to registrants so you can look at it in advance (and am happy to hear requests for group tunes - not all finalized, yet). If you've never been, the idea is simple - get together with a lot of harpers, make a "glorious noise". Email for more details

Bag lunch seems the best idea: there is a beautiful picnic ground where we're playing, a concession at the entrance (5 minute walk) and a Tim Horton's across the highway.

In order to get the site admission, etc. I must pre-register people, so I'll appreciate your confirmation of Harpers and Non-harpers by June 30th.  Thanks!!!
